The Peach Forest

‘Kuafu chased the sun’ is a classic story in Chinese Mythology. Kuafu had chased the sun before, and thirsty stopped his steps towards chasing. Two rivers ran dry as his ‘reservoir’, but still, he couldn’t catch the sun. The walking stick used by Kuafu while chasing transformed into a huge stretch of aesthetic peach forest for his descendants after he passed away. Most readers portray Kuafu as a conceited man, nevertheless, I admire him. The courage to pursue what he wants is admirable. The death of Kuafu is not gloomy. It is romantic, poetic, and glorious. That’s the reason I chose the pink hue while drawing. If he had the chance to choose again, I guess he would still be on the way to chase. Kuafu is the miniature of juveniles, and the sun is whatever we want to be. Although we may not ‘catch the sun’, during the process of chasing, we can still receive a unique ‘peach forest’.
